Myanmar has a strong maritime tradition. There are now reckoned to be about 30,000 seafarers from the country. In addition, the Myanmar Navy has about 19,000 ratings. The country retains a developed training and regulatory base for the maritime industry.
The country has never abandoned its English-based educational system, so that the standard of English remains higher than most countries in South East Asia.
Myanmar has retained a historic martial tradition and many of its Security Guards have tough and extensive experience in the Myanmar armed services and police. Other sources of Security Guards in Myanmar range from major embassies to foreign commercial organisations, both of which train their Guards to international standards. Many Myanmar Guards have also served in foreign countries.
