Ship Security Guards perform three main functions:

• Protection against terrorism and external attack.
• Shipboard policing.
• Customer service.

In our nearly thirty years experience of providing Ship Security Guards to the cruise industry, we have found that balancing these three roles is hard. The skills they require differ widely and are not easily found in any one individual or from one national source. Combining individuals with the right attributes into a team that can function smoothly under acute stress is even harder.
